Jonathan Rhys Meyers (George Hogg)

Most recently Meyers starred in the highly critically acclaimed and award-winning television series The Tudors as King Henry VIII. One of the most interesting and successful actors of his generation, Dublin born Jonathan Rhys Meyers has starred in films such as A Lion in Winter, Vanity Fair, Alexander and Match Point.

He first gained international attention for his starring role in Todd Haynes’ Velvet Goldmine with Ewan McGregor, Christian Bale and Toni Collette. His performance garnered him a London Film Critics Circle Award. This led to roles in Mission Impossible III opposite Tom Cruise and Phillip Seymour Hoffman and Woody Allen’s Matchpoint opposite Scarlett Johansson, which debuted at the 2005 Cannes Film Festival.

Rhys Meyers is also recognized for his role as the girl’s soccer coach in the box-office hit Bend It Like Beckham. Other starring roles include Oliver Stone’s epic Alexander and Vanity Fair opposite with Reese Witherspoon.

For television, Rhys Meyers received the great honor of a 2006 Golden Globe Award for “Outstanding Lead Actor in a Miniseries of Movie” for his portrayal of the young Elvis Presley in the television miniseries Elvis. In addition to this honor he received an Emmy nomination for this role.
