David Wenham (Barnes)David Wenham has received critical acclaim for his diverse performances in film, theatre and television. Most recently he starred in 300 directed by Zack Snyder and co-starred with Hugh Jackman in Van Helsing. Wenham is best known for his role as in Peter Jackson’s critically acclaimed second and third Lord Of The Rings installments The Two Towers and Return Of The King. Wenham’s accolades include a Best Actor nomination at the 2002 Australian Film Institute (AFI) Awards for Paul Cox’s Molokai; The Story Of Father Damian, a Best Actor nomination at the 2001 AFI Awards and the 2001 Film Critics Circle of Australia Awards for the successful Australian feature The Bank; a Best Actor nomination at the 2000 AFI Awards and the 2000 IF Awards for Better Than Sex; and a Best Actor nomination at the 1999 FCCA Awards for his haunting portrayal as a psychopath in The Boys. Wenham’s other film credits include: the UK family drama Pure (2002); Russian Doll (2001), with Hugo Weaving; the musical extravaganza Moulin Rouge! and Dark City (1998). He has also featured in some of Australia’s most successful television series including Seachange, credited with launching his career and appeared on stage in a number of Sydney and Melbourne theatre productions including Cosi, Hamlet and The Tempest.
