David Hirschfelder (Composer)

David Hirschfelder is an Australian classical composer and performer. One of his most memorable soundtracks is Shine, a film about the pianist David Helfgott that includes the pianist’s own recordings. Hirschfelder's tracks work alongside the classical tracks in the film. Later, a portion of this work was used in The Truman Show.

Hirschfelder went on to compose the soundtrack for Elizabeth. He received the honor of winning a BAFTA for this film as well as an Oscar nomination.

For Baz Luhrmann’s film Strictly Ballroom, Hirschfelder won a BAFTA for Best Original Score. Other film credits include Hanging Up, The Interview, Peaches and Shake Hands With the Devil.
